About Kimberly-Ann Talbert
I have been creating art since I was a child.
One of my first memories was spending hours taking photos, sans film, with my mother's Kodak Brownie. From there I was given a green Kodak Instamatic, which I later traded in for a newer version. I never gave up my camera, but I didn't pick up photography in a serious manner until the 1980's, but with my poor eyesight, I had a difficult focusing w/ the manual Fresnel screen and I opted for a more advanced Pentax so that my photos would lose the blur.
When Digital cameras first came out I opted for a Kodak 8 Mega-Pixels (which was actually a good camera). From there I upgraded to a Fuji Fine-Pix, which I use as my back-up camera, while mainly working w/ a Nikon D3200.
I've been showing my work publicly since 2013 and I have won several awards. I am currently show my work with the Verdugo Hills Art Association, Buenaventura Art Association, Highway 2 Artists, & at Spa Pura in Montrose, CA
My photography is directly influenced by what I consider to be beauty & human interest. I photograph those scenes, events, & living beings that I believe to be inspiring and beautiful that I want to keep visual memories of: with the added intent to share with viewers how I interpret the everyday world, enhanced with color, thus adding a sense of awe and beauty to things we might otherwise ignore or take for granted.
I graduated w/ an A.A. from Mt. San Antonio College and a B.A. in Art from CA State University, Fullerton. I continued studying Art and Art History at UCLA, where I earned a CA Adult Teachers' Credential and in 2007 I graduated w/ a masters in Library & Information Science from San Jose State University, CA.
On occasion I still paint and I work with hard-shelled gourds. The Gourds are directly inspired by Native American teachings and each tells a story.
Hopefully you will be inspired as much as I am by my work!
